Evolution of joint projects of Moldova, Romania discussed in Bucharest

Chisinau, 02 July /MOLDPRES/ – The development of joint projects of Moldova and Romania has been analised on Tuesday, 02 July, in Bucharest, by the head of the cabinet of ministers in Chisinau, Maia Sandu, and her Romanian counterpart, Viorica Dancila.

After the meeting, Maia Sandu has stated that she discussed with Viorica Dancila about the relations between the two states and the European agenda of Moldova. "We have reiterated our desire to deepen institutional collaboration in various areas. We approached the opportunity to maintain the format of joint government meetings. Another topic is the implementation of energy projects, focusing on completion of construction and putting into full operation of the Iasi – Ungheni – Chisinau gas pipeline. We reiterated the interest in completing work on the entire site during 2020," said Maia Sandu.

The PM added that at the meeting they also discussed the importance of interconnection of high voltage power lines and construction of interconnecting road and the bridge over the Prut river in the region of Ungheni city.

Romanian PM, Viorica Dancila, has delivered a strong message of encouraging Moldova to continue the European objectives and implement the reforms undertaken in the context of the Association Agreement (AA). The Bucharest has official assured that Romania will remain the most sincere supporter of the efforts of Moldova in its European path.

"We are ready to support the unblocking of EU financial assistance to Moldova and provide bilateral expertise. The talks of today have shown common interest in advancing the multitude of bilateral projects with a special focus on energy interconnection projects. We have identified areas of immediate concern that we shall focus on in the next step. The two Governments will start working in an intergovernmental working group, and we shall look at which of the ongoing projects require immediate attention", specified Dancila.

The head of the cabinet of ministers in Chisinau pays today a visit to Bucharest, this being the first visit abroad of Maia Sandu after her inauguration as PM.
