Windy rainfalls damage roofs of more houses in north of Moldova

Chisinau, 03 July /MOLDPRES/ – The torrential rainfalls with strong wind and hail were recorded in the afternoon of Tuesday, 02 July, have caused more damage to localities in the north of Moldova. The storm affected districts Briceni, Edinet, Ocnita, Rascani, Sangerei, Glodeni, Donduseni and Balti municipality. The electricity suppliers reported partial disconnections in 17 localities in Glodeni and Rascani districts.

According to the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations' (IGSU) information and media communication service, the strong wind pulled several slate sheets, but also damaged the roofs of more residential houses in districts Glodeni, Donduseni, Briceni and Edinet.

Thus, slate sheets were pulled from the roofs of four five – floor blocks – of – flats in Donduseni city. Similarly, the roofs of about 10 houses were damaged in locality Rediul Mare of similar district. In village Hajdeni, Glodeni district, the wind gusts snatched 33 sheets of slate from the roofs of more buildings.

The rescuers also intervened with unblocking after several trees were brought down in storm – affected regions. Thus, in Balti municipality, more trees fell on electric wires, a pipeline, gas pipelines, but also on a car station. Also, over 30 trees fell on the edge of the roads in village Clococeni, in Glodeni district.

The firefighters also intervened near locality Hlinaia – Rotunda in Edinet district and on the roads near villages Cotiujeni and Larga, Briceni district. The intervention of rescuers was also necessary in Ocnita district, where an electric pole and a tree fell over two cars. No one has suffered as a result of the incident.

The exceptional commissions (CE) are expected to estimate the suffered damage.
