Johannes Hahn says EU to identify concrete support measures for Moldova

Chisinau, 03 July /MOLDPRES/ – The possibilities for strengthening the high – level dialogue of Moldova and EU, launched in Chisinau a few weeks ago, have been discussed on Wednesday, 03 July, by Prime Minister, Maia Sandu, paying an official visit to Brussels, and the European Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Negotiations for Enlargement, Johannes Hahn, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
PM Maia Sandu has informed the EU official about recent political developments in Moldova, as well as the undertaken actions by Government and Parliament to advance the reform agenda. Maia Sandu has specified that the current Government aims to rebuild democratic institutions and restore confidence of citizens in their own state, these things being possible by: investigating abuses and irregularities of ex – Government, creating a justice based on integrity and public confidence, promoting professionals in key positions as well as fulfillment of terms of Association Agreement with EU.
Also, during the meeting, there have been referred upon issues of cooperation on assistance programmes with EU, as well as the possibilities for deepening the bilateral cooperation throughout the platform of Eastern Partnership, which celebrates this year 10 years since its establishment. "The Government in Chisinau has undertaken to implement comprehensive reforms and build institutions that are in the interest of citizens of Moldova. We will only succeed with your essential support. One day Moldova will be ready for Europe. One day we shall knock firmly at the EU door as to regain our place in the European family of nations," said PM Maia Sandu.
At his turn, Commissioner Hahn has welcomed the actions of Government in advancing reforms. The official has noted that EU is paying more attention to developments in Moldova and that it wants to anchor Moldova on irreversible path of reforms.
Similarly, Johannes Hann has said that it will be identified concrete support measures for Moldova based upon firm commitment to implement the provisions of EU – Moldova Association Agreement.
