Activity report of audiovisual coordination council for 2018 rejected by Moldovan parliamentary commission

Chisinau, 03 July /MOLDPRES/ – The members of the Commission of culture, education, research, youth, sport and mass media (CCECTSM) have given a negative opinion on activity report of Audiovisual Coordination Council (CCA) for 2018 on Wednesday, 03 July, and demanded resignation of the council members.
After hearing the report presented by head of CCA, Dragos Vicol, the members of parliamentary committee have decided to give a negative opinion on it. Six out of seven members present at the committee voted in favour of a negative opinion.
Also on Wednesday, 03 July, the commission members have decided to set up a parliamentary media monitoring group, which will be led by MP Lilian Carp.
The activity of CCA is supervised by Parliament, by means of debate of annual report of the Council. The annual report of Audiovisual Coordination Council is to be submitted to Legislature by 01 February.
If Parliament rejects the annual report of CCA, it is obliged to submit a programme of concrete measures within 30 days to remedy the reported deficiencies. By presentation of CCA's report, the parliamentary committee on the subject presents an opinion on legality of activities of the Council, fairness and transparency of financial operations.
