Torrential rains hit 34 settlements from 12 districts of Moldova

Chisinau, 3 July /MOLDPRES/ - The torrential rains have hit 34 settlements from 12 Moldovan districts and over 160 houses were deteriorated. The head of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU), Mihail Harabagiu, made statements to this effect at a news briefing today.
According to Harabagiu, in the last 24 hours, rescuers intervened in 24 cases for de-blocking and breaking up more trees, pillars, which fell down in the wake of the gusting of the wind. “To remove the consequences of the emergency situations, 111 IGSU employees were involved, with 33 special technology units. District commissions for emergency situations today work on the spot, in order to assess the damages recorded. After all data is collected, solutions are to be identified to help the people hit by the calamity,” Harabagiu said.
The 2 July rain left ten settlements from six districts disconnected from power supply and hit more farmlands in the villages of Medveja, Cotiujeni and Larga, northern Briceni district, as well as about 100 hectares of maize in the Rotunda settlement, northern Edinet district. The storm seriously affected the districts of Balti, Briceni, Edinet, Ocnita, Sangerei, Glodeni and Donduseni.
