Meteorologists inform about rains, wind, hail in central, southern Moldova

Chisinau, 3 July /MOLDPRES/ - The Yellow Code of atmospheric instability is valid almost all over Moldova till late 3 July, according to the State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS).
Meteorologists said that, on the aforementioned period, thunderstorm rains, heavy rains with hail in some regions (15-25 litres/square metre) and strong wind gusting up to 15-20 metres/second are expected in the central and southern regions.
The weather is to cool with the atmospheric instability. Thus, in the next 24 hours, the air temperature will vary between +25 and +27 Celsius degrees all over the country during the day and between +20 and +22 degrees at night.
SHS specialists said that, as a rule, the precipitation throughout Moldova in July amounts to 53-89 mm and there are between 8 and 12 days with precipitation. Data of multiannual observations shows that, in July, the largest quantity of precipitation in July stood at 330 mm (in Briceni in 2003) and the largest daily quantity - 218 mm (in Chisinau in 1948).
Storms are also possible in July 6-9 days, on average, hails (from 1 to 3 days) and fog (1-2 days).
In case of Yellow Code, the weather conditions are potentially dangerous; the meteorological phenomena forecast (thunderstorm rains, wind gusting, high or low air temperatures, risk of increase in the flow and level of rivers and small rivers, etc.) are usual for Moldova’s territory; yet, they may temporarily become dangerous for certain social and economic activities.
