Chisinau, 04 July /MOLDPRES/ – The deputy head of the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), Rodica Ciubotaru, has submitted her mandate as member of CEC on Thursday, 04 July.
A message to this effect was placed on the institution's official website on a social network site.
The message states that "recent attempts to modify electoral legislation are a challenge to independence of the exercise of CEC's mandate and undermine the authority of electoral institution."
"These ones might lead to loss of credibility in electoral process and disorientation of voter. In this way, the citizen can conclude, rightly or wrongly, that the electoral process is only a tool by which the ones in power operate and that his vote is no longer an essential element of democracy. The oath, which was given 03 years ago in plenum of Parliament, guided me in my work, making me respect the democratic terms, Constitution and laws of Moldova", specifies Ciubotaru.
Rodica Ciubotaru said she "has no regrets and remorse, and it was an honour to work in a dedicated and professional team."
Ciubotaru signed as member of CEC in 2016.
The resignation of Rodica Ciubotaru follows only 02 days after head of CEC, Alina Russu, announced that she resigned. At the end of last week, the member of CEC, Iurie Ciocan, submitted his resignation.
