Moldovan deputy PM for reintegration meets with head of EUBAM

Chisinau, 05 July /MOLDPRES/ – Deputy Prime Minister, Vasilii Sova, had a meeting with the head of the EU Border Assistance Mission to Moldova and Ukraine (EUBAM), Slawomir Pichor, on Thursday, 04 July, during which he reviewed the situation on a number of issues, including matters related to the monitoring of the Central (Transdniestrian) segment of the Moldovan – Ukrainian state border, mentioning the need to coordinate efforts to make the mission work more efficient on this dimension, the office for reintegration policy’s information and media communication service has reported.

There were approached the prospects for a more qualitative control in the border area mentioned above, in accordance with the provisions of international acts to which Moldova is a counterpart.

A special attention was paid to the import – export operations carried out by businessmen on both banks of the Dniester, respecting the principle of legality and avoiding financial and economic losses.

There were also discussed ideas and future projects that can be admitted and relevant in the context of maintaining and developing cooperation with EUBAM Mission, as well as an exchange of views on determination and extension of the mission mandate after 2020, highlighting the big importance to be given to the integrated management of the Moldovan – Ukrainian state border on its central (Transnistrian) segment.

The deputy PM for reintegration expressed his gratitude for the efforts made by EUBAM and EU Mission to strengthen the state border control of Moldova and Ukraine and intervened with the call to intensify cooperation as to honour the assumed mutual commitments.
