Chisinau, 5 July /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Maia Sandu today addressed a message to all prosecutors of Moldova. The PM urged the prosecutors to enforce the law and start working only in the interest of the citizens and the state.
According to the prime minister, what is currently happening is quite serious and urgent. In this context, Maia Sandu urged the prosecutors to become independent, just as the law stipulates and start working only in the national interest. ”Just start behaving as true prosecutors. Do not stay hidden in offices until the leadership is changed. You are 660 prosecutors, who might enforce the law immediately, become independent, just as the law stipulates, start working only in the national interest,” Maia Sandu said.
The prime minister also said that every day she received information on corruption schemes and abuses and the prosecutors have responsibility for the state not to be stolen in continuation. “We have no right either to open criminal files or instrument them. Yet, you can investigate all these cases and can present us information about all perpetrators, send them to court, as well as explain us why the bank fraud and many other criminal actions have not been investigated till present. This is your duty. And not only the duty, but also the obligation,” Sandu noted.
The official also said that each day when prosecutors do nothing was a lost day for the country and citizens. “This is your country as well. Here your children will be brought up, here your parents are. Do they like to be stolen and nobody is defending them? Do you like to know that your families have been stolen and nobody have protected them? You are 660 prosecutors. And if you enforce the law, do not fulfill the illegal instructions, become independent, I assure you that the country will be by your side. Nobody asks you anything else but to be prosecutors. Nobody asks you anything else but to enforce the law and in this way, to protect the citizens and the state,” Maia Sandu added.
