PM's addressing to prosecutors of Moldova

Chisinau, 5 July /MOLDPRES/ - I have ruled to hold this news briefing, as what is happening is quite serious and urgent. I want to put it quite clearly – there is no Prosecutor’ General’s Office in Moldova at present! I.e., it exists formally; yet, in reality, it does not work.
You saw at the 4 July news conference how clumsy Harunjen and Betisor were looking, trying to prove that they fulfill their task. They were saying that they investigated the one-billion-dollar theft and that finality would be achieved soon. This is wrong. They have had enough time to prove that they fulfill their job duties; yet, they have lamentably failed. The one-billion-dollar theft, as well as other files with high impact mark time.
I have a message to those 660 prosecutors from Moldova.
Just start behaving as true prosecutors. Do not stay hidden in offices until the leadership is changed. The leadership will change for sure. Moreover, Eduard Harunjen will be called to account under the law for the inaction and abuses committed. And also for the fact that, as a result of his actions and inactions, billions and billions of lei has been stolen from the state and the citizens of Moldova.
You are 660 prosecutors, who might enforce the law immediately, become independent, just as the law stipulates, start working only in the national interest. And the national interest has been quite strong hit on the last period. It is not a secret for anybody on who, how and when caused damages to the state, endangered the security of our country, stole from citizens. You have this information. And we have it too. Every day, I receive information on corruption schemes and abuses. This information is secret; yet, we started the process of disclosure. It is your responsibility to make sure that the state is not stolen in continuation. We have no right either to open criminal files or instrument them. Yet, you can investigate all these cases and can present us information about all perpetrators. Send them to court, as well as explain us why the bank fraud and many other criminal actions have not been investigated till present. This is your duty. And not only the duty, but also the obligation. The legal and moral obligation.
You do not have much time. Each day when you do nothing is a lost day for the country and citizens. Each day of you staying silent in offices is a day on which thieves and criminals hide the stolen money and properties from the citizens and the state, a day on which these criminals are looking for ways of rescue. These days are on your responsibility.
You are 660 prosecutors and I want to believe that many of you are different from Harunjen and from those staying on the brink when the country was led to abyss. This is your country as well. Here your children will be brought up, here your parents are. Do they like to be stolen and nobody is defending them? Do you like to know that your families have been stolen and nobody have protected them?
You are 660 prosecutors. And if you enforce the law, do not fulfill the illegal instructions by Harunjen and Betisor, become independent, I assure you that the country will be by your side. Nobody asks you anything else but to be prosecutors. Nobody asks you anything else but to enforce the law; in this way, tol protect the citizens and the state. We everybody ask you to get rid of an irrational fear, to act resolutely towards those who endanger the Republic of Moldova. Only in this way, you will deserve the name of prosecutors.
