Moldovan farmers submit 1,760 agricultural subsidy files in six months of 2019

Chisinau, 08 July /MOLDPRES/ – In the first 06 months of 2019, there were submitted 1,760 applications for subsidies worth MDL 326 million (€16.3 mln.) to the Agency for Intervention and Payment in Agriculture (AIPA). The number of applications is 12 per cent higher compared to similar period of 2018.
According to the AIPA's information and media communication service, the value of investments that the applicants seek to subsidise is increasing by 30 per cent, amounting to about MDL 1.1 billion. These ones generated 406 new jobs and 495 seasonal jobs.
Most requests for subsidies were registered in the north with 649 files submitted, in the south – 584 files, and in the centre of Moldova – 527.
Aut of all submitted files, the AIPA has authorised for payment 1,073 applications, amounting to MDL 160 million, which is 60 per cent of the total.
The largest share of subsidy applications in 2019 is granted for purchase of agricultural machinery and equipment, with 790 applications in the amount of MDL 85.2 million. The farmers have also requested subsidies for setting up, upgrading multiannual plantations and grubbing up non – productive crops, with AIPA receiving 549 applications on it.
Another major area, where there were requested subsidies, is development of post – harvesting and processing infrastructure, with 143 grant applications registered during reference period.
The campaign to submit applications for post – investment grants will last until 31 October 2019. In 2019, the National Fund for the Development of Agriculture and Rural Areas is MDL 900 million.
