Former Moldovan finance minister appointed presidential adviser

Chisinau, 8 July /MOLDPRES/ - The former finance minister from the government led by Pavel Filip was appointed as presidential adviser today. The head of state has made statements to this effect on his official webpage.
The message by President Igor Dodon reads that “many times, I have publicly appreciated the efforts of Ion Chicu, meant to enhance the efficiency of the budgetary and fiscal system, relying including on the cooperation we had in the team of Mrs. Grecianii on the period 2005-2009.”
“The experience got on that period, as well as Chicu’s work at the World Bank during more years were the reasons for which I unequivocally accepted his appointment to the office of minister in December 2018. Despite more challenges for the budgetary sector on that period, Chicu along with his team from the Finance Ministry managed to maintain the stability of the budgetary and fiscal system,” the message also reads.
Ion Chicu was appointed as finance minister in the cabinet led by Pavel Filip on 10 December 2018. He is 46 years old, has three children, has economic education and exercised more leadership offices during more years, including the one of deputy finance minister.
