More universities start admission session in Moldova

Chisinau, 8 July /MOLDPRES/ - More higher education institutions today started the admission session for the new 2019-2020 academic year.
Among the institutions which have already opened their doors for the lyceum graduates, there are the Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Chisinau-based Ion Creanga State Pedagogical University, Moldovan Academy of Economic Studies.
The admission to education will begin at the State University of Moldova and Moldovan Technical University on 15 July. On the same day, the admission contest will start at the State University of Physical Education and Sport and candidates will be able to submit their acts to the Balti-based Alecu Russo State University beginning with 11 July.
The results of the admission will be presented in most institutions in the second half of July and early next August.
Contacted by MOLDPRES, the head of the information service of the Education, Culture and Research Ministry, Angela Mutruc, has said that the universities individually established the period of admission and the term of announcing the results. At the same time, the education institutions will determine the size of the education fee.
If uncovered places remain at some universities following the basic session, they will be able to decide the organization of an additional session.
A draft cabinet decision on plans of educating specialty staff, with state budget financing, in higher education institutions for the 2019-2020 academic year has been proposed for public consultations. The draft provides for the admission of 4,906 people of the first degree cycle, with the number of places financed from the state budget being similar to the one from the last academic year. As many as 2,876 persons are scheduled to be admitted to the higher master education.
People holding the school graduation diploma or a vocational education diploma can participate in the contest of admission to the cycle I – higher degree education. Candidates have right to register for the admission contest concomitantly to more specialties from various professional education sectors, to one or more higher education institutions. Yet, they also can be admitted to a single specialty at a single higher education institution, out of those for which they opted.
There are 17 state and nine private higher education institutions in Moldova.
