Chisinau, 9 July /MOLDPRES/ - The Economics and Infrastructure Ministry prepares a package of legislative acts meant to ensure the de-monopolization and transparency in the economic sector. Minister Vadim Branzan, who denounced corruption schemes at state institutions, made statements to this effect today.

According to Branzan, “some people brought the schemes from the 1990s to the state structures and turned the entire country into their own business, and so the citizens’ money did not reach the state budget, but got into the pockets of an organized crime ring.”

„Most structures of the economy were controlled and subordinated to the barons of the Democratic Party – just a group of people who were collecting tribute from business, from state institutions. The sacks with money collected were going to the budget of the crime ring or of the party. Those who refused to pay were arrested, blackmailed with criminal files or their businesses were taken over,” Branzan said.

The minister noted that he had received complaints, reading that a tax from two to five euros for each ton carried on the territory of the country was collected at the   Railway of Moldova.

In these conditions, “at least 400 million lei was going to pockets of the crime ring monthly, as a result of the enforcement of these schemes.”

Vadim Branzan also said that the law-enforcement institutions would be notified on this case. At the same time, the minister added such schemes would no longer be tolerated and the new team of the ministry would ensure the edification of a transparent and competitive economy.
