Moldova, Canada to cooperate for mutual protection of investments

Chisinau, 10 July /MOLDPRES/ - The Moldovan cabinet at a today’s meeting approved a draft law on the ratification of the agreement between the governments of Moldova and Canada on the mutual promotion and protection of investments.
The agreement stipulates, in particular, the conditions for the reciprocal promotion and protection of investments and ways of settling disputes.
The treaty’s goal is to strengthen the mutually advantageous economic and investment relations, create conditions for the carrying out of investment activities of economic agents from both countries and to regulate the commercial and economic ties. According to Economics and Infrastructure Minister Vadim Branzan, all these things will have an impact on the flow of foreign direct investments in Moldova, as well as on the bilateral trade.
No treaties in the economic sector or similar treaties have been signed with the Canadian side so far.
The agreement will enter into force following the reception by both sides of the notifications on the fulfillment of the domestic procedures needed to this end.
