Moldova to receive new financial installment from IMF

Chisinau, 10 July /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova will receive a new financial installment on behalf of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in next autumn. Parliament Speaker Zinaida Grecianii and the head of the IMF Mission, Ruben Atoyan, discussed this subject at a meeting today, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
Attending the discussions were the deputy parliament speakers, Ion Ceban, Alexandru Slusari and Mihail Popsoi, as well as the heads of parliamentary commissions Igor Munteanu and Vladimir Golovatiuc.
Zinaida Greceanii described the negotiations held with the IMF experts’ team as quite productive. “This was not at all an easy mission, but it finished with good results for the country’s economic stability,” the parliament speaker said.
At the same time, Zinaida Greceanii thanked the IMF experts for the confidence offered to the ruling coalition, noting that the financial means would be used for the implementation of reforms and improving the citizens’ living standards.
For his part, Ruben Atoyan said that the money would reach Moldova after the evaluation mission is approved by the IMF Board and 40 per cent of the financial means would be used to cover the budget deficit. “At the same time, the extension of the programme with IMF till March 2020 was approved,” the official added.
