Moldovan Superior Council of Prosecutors turns down notification submitted against Prosecutor General

Chisinau, 11 July /MOLDPRES/ - The Superior Council of Prosecutors (CSP) today declared as inadmissible a notification submitted by MP Andrei Nastase against Prosecutor General Eduard Harunjen.
The Superior Council of Prosecutors today assembled at a meeting at a request by three CSP members and had more subjects on the agenda, among which: validation of the mandate of member of the college of evaluation of prosecutors’ performances; consideration of an application submitted by a group of prosecutors and examination of a notification by lawmaker Andrei Nastase against Prosecutor General Eduard Harunjen.
The CSP member today ruled to consider only the notification submitted by Andrei Nastase, after which they started the deliberations.
Subsequently, the head of the Prosecutors’ Council, Angela Motuzoc, informed that CSP declared the notification as inadmissible, as the Council has no the needed competences to give its opinion under the law.
The CSP members decided to submit the addressing submitted by Andrei Nastase in the part dealing with the usurpation of the state power to the Prosecutor General’s Office, within the criminal file already opened.
Interior Minister Andrei Nastase sent a letter to CSP, thereby demanding that Eduard Harunjen be prosecuted for the usurpation of state power and abuse of office.
