Chisinau, 11 July /MOLDPRES/ – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration (MAEIE) condemns the speech of representative of International Council of Russian Compatriots (CIRC) to plenary session of 41st session of UN Human Rights Council tried to distort the actions undertaken permanently by the Republic of Moldova regarding the observance and protection of human rights throughout the country, including in the Transnistrian region.
In the above context, Moldova asked the CDO Secretariat to withdraw the text of the speech on official website of organisation because it does not correspond to content of announced presentation and violates provisions of international law. It is drawn attention to the fact that respect for and protection of human rights in accordance with all international standards and commitments remains a priority objective for authorities of Moldova.
The ministry considers that such provocative speeches from the stand of an international organisation are counterproductive, being able to undermine the efforts made in 5+2 negotiation process on identification of a viable, peaceful and sustainable solution for settlement of the Transnistrian conflict, based upon sovereignty and territorial integrity of Moldova within its internationally recognised borders, with a special status for the Transnistrian region.
On it, MAEIE will reiterate the approach of Moldovan authorities to Russian leadership to stop the work of controversial Moscow representation of Foundation for the Development of Social and Cultural Relations Transnistria (promoter of these provocative steps), which is supposed to be an "official representation" of Transnistria in Moscow.
MAEIE considers it absolutely unacceptable for exponents of anti – constitutional regime in Tiraspol to use NGOs from Russia as a paragon for political purposes and cooperate with relevant UN structures to prevent situations that are contrary to accreditation mandate and underlying principles of the Human Rights Council (CDO).
