Five new trolleybuses to run on streets of Chisinau municipality

Chisinau, 12 July /MOLDPRES/ – Five more new trolleybuses will run on the streets of Chisinau municipality. They are currently assembled at Regia Transport Electric Chisinau (RTEC). The cost of a trolleybus is €160,000.
The units are part of 17 trolleybuses purchased in 2019 from a plant in Minsk, including 10 standard vehicles, 05 with standalone propulsion and 02 articulated propulsion.
The new trolleybuses are equipped with air conditioning, in – camera video surveillance, and USB sockets for passengers. Also, cars have LED – based optics and electrically adjustable mirrors.
According to the Chisinau city hall’s information and media communication service, articulated trolleybuses are due to be delivered to Moldova in September. They will be able to transport more passengers in rush – hours, which will help reduce road jams.
In 2019, for the purchase of new trolleybuses, it has been provided the amount of MDL 72 mln in the municipal budget (BM).
It is to remind that in project Public Transport Chisinau, financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), European Investment Bank (EIB) and Neighbourhood Investment Fund (NIF), in 2011 there were purchased 102 AKSM trolleybuses from plant Belkommunmash. There have been assembled trolleybuses in Chisinau from that plant, by extending this project within recent 08 years.
There were purchased 247 trolleybuses of Belarusian production, AKSM, including 145 units assembled within RTEC, aut of which 30 trolleybuses are self – propelled.
