Moldovan parliament speaker meets World Bank Country Director for Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine

Chisinau, 12 July /MOLDPRES/ - ”The entire foreign support, either in form of grant or credit, must be turned to account transparently, correctly, qualitatively and efficiently. The most important thing is that we should not forget that people are behind any reform. People are the end beneficiaries and those who must feel the beneficial effect of the changes,” Parliament Speaker Zinaida Grecianii said at a meeting with World Bank Country Director for Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine Satu Kähkönen, the parliament’s communication and public relations general department has reported.     

According to the speaker, the priority of the governance is to ensure a sustainable development, which will be difficult to achieve, if the foreign sources replace the domestic funds. Zinaida Grecianii stressed the authorities’ determination to ensure political stability, attraction of investors to Moldova, liquidate corruption and ensure a fair justice. She also emphasized the need to reorganize Moldova’s economic structure, noting that the country has a huge potential of hub for exports and is a platform with prospects for producers.    

The sides discussed the agenda of priorities and cooperation to ensure a sustainable and inclusive development of the country. At the same time, the officials found out a good cooperation between Moldova and the World Bank during time and openness for the full support on the way of reforms.   

Attending the meeting were the deputy head of the parliament’s commission for economy, budget and finances, Dumitru Alaiba, and the head of the commission for control of public money, Vladimir Golovatiuc.
