OSCE announces political talks in format 5+2 may take place in Bratislava in upcoming three months

Chisinau, 13 July /MOLDPRES/ – The mediators and observers of permanent conference on political issues in negotiation process for Transnistrian settlement in format 5+2 visited Chisinau municipality and Tiraspol on 12 July.
During the visit, the mediators and observers met with President, Igor Dodon, Prime Minister, Maia Sandu, and deputy PM for reintegration and political representative in negotiating process, Vasilii Sova, in Chisinau. In Tiraspol, they met with regional leader, Vadim Krasnoselski, and political representative of negotiation process, Vitali Ignatiev.
The mediators and observers welcomed the political commitment shown by leadership of both sides to further exploit positive dynamics in Transdniestrian settlement process and obtain further exact results on implementation of package Berlin – plus by the end of 2019.
On it, the mediators and observers urged the parties to continue actively and substantially to engage in joint expert working groups and hold periodically meetings of political representatives in format 1+1 as to provide these groups with necessary guidance. In this regard, they welcomed the opening of two political representatives to meet in the next fortnight.
According to a press release issued by OSCE Mission, the substantial political discussions in format 5+2 can be held in Bratislava, Slovakia, in upcoming 03 months so as to assess the progress made in implementing the Berlin Plus package, and identify other priority issues within confidence building measures.
The mediators and observers welcomed the continued willingness of both sides to address a number of priority issues received from joint working groups of experts, in an event that will be organised by OSCE Mission to Moldova in autumn 2019 in Bavaria, Germany.
Recently, during a meeting with SP Zinaida Greceanii, head of OSCE Mission to Moldova, Claus Neukirch, announced resumption of negotiations in format 5+2 in autumn of 2019.
The negotiations in format 5+2 include representatives of parties – Moldova and Transnistrian region, mediators from OSCE, Russia and Ukraine, as well as observers from EU and USA.
