Twenty four pedestrians die in road accidents since start of 2019

Chisinau, 13 July /MOLDPRES/ – Since the start of 2019 till present, there have occurred 173 road accidents in Moldova with involvement of undisciplined pedestrians. As a result, there died 24 pedestrians and 150 ones were traumatised.

According to the National Patrol Inspectorate's (INP) information and media communication service, the most frequent accidents occur in localities where the crossing for pedestrians is often not taken into account.

A similar accident occurred recently in Pelivan village, Orhei district. A man of 69 driving a tractor with a trailer hit a person. The pedestrian, aged 59, was crossing the street not on a corresponding place, rather unenlightened, willing to get on opposite side where it was waiting a taxi. The man died as a result of impact.

The INP cautions pedestrians not to endanger their lives and cross the street by means specially designed places. Also, the drivers are urged to meet the speed limit so as to be able to react on time.
