Hydrologists warns of local sub – floods in Moldova

Chisinau, 14 July /MOLDPRES/ – The hydrological centre of the State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS) has issued a local sub – flood warning, valid on 14 – 15 July.

According to the hydrologists’ info and media communication service, in connection with the warning of the meteorological centre on rainfalls forecasting, isolated heavy showers (15 l/m2 – 45 l/m2), it is possible to create intensive leakage on slopes at risk of local sub – flooding.

In this context, the local public administration (APL), economic agents subordinated to accumulation lakes, are warned to check the state of dams, bridges and waterways.

A hydrological warning means the risk of floods or rapid increases in water levels that do not cause significant damage, but require increased vigilance in cases of seasonal and/or flood – related activities.

Over upcoming 24 hours, there are expected rainfalls over the whole Moldova, with significant cooling of weather conditions. Thus, on Monday, 15 July, max. of 23ºC – 25ºC during the day, and 15ºC – 17ºC in the night.
