Twenty three candidates run for position of judge to constitutional court on behalf of Moldovan government

Chisinau, 15 July /MOLDPRES/ – A number of 23 candidates have submitted files for selection of judges from the Government at the Constitutional Court (CC).
The list of candidates has been published Monday, 15 July, on the official website of Government. According to institution, the citizens of Moldova, representatives of civil society, mass media or any other interested person may express written opinions on candidates by 19 July. The anonymous opinions will not be considered.
The contest was organised after the end of June, the magistrates of CC resigned. PM Maia Sandu announced then that the Government would nominate 02 judges at the high court by contest. Subsequently, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the rules governing the organisation of contest.
A similar contest was also set by Parliament. Similarly in this case, the number of persons which filed documents is 23. The files of candidates can be analised on the official page of Legislature. The deadline for presenting the acts expired on Friday, 12 July.
The CC is made up of 06 judges, appointed for a six – year term. Two judges are appointed by the Parliament, two by the Government and two by the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM).
