Chisinau, 15 July /MOLDPRES/ - The State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS) has issued a Yellow Code of atmospheric instability till 16 July.
According to meteorologists, thunderstorm rains, heavy ones in some regions (15-25 litres per one square metre) with wind gusting up to 15-20 metres/second, are expected on the aforementioned period.
Cool weather will maintain on the next 24 hours. Thus, the maximal air temperatures on 16 July will oscillate between +25 and +27 Celsius degrees during the day and between +13 and +15 degrees at night.
Warnings of local sub-flooding remain also in force till 16 July; the warning was issued by SHS’ hydrological centre for 14-15 July. Given the heavy rains forecast, hydrologists warn that, on the concerned period, intensive floods are possible to appear on slopes, with risk of local sub-flooding.
In the context, the local authorities, economic agents owning reservoirs are warned to check the state of dams, bridges and ways of water’s evacuation, and where needed, they should strengthen dams.
In case of yellow code, the weather conditions are potentially dangerous; the meteorological phenomena forecast (thunderstorm rains, wind gusting, high or low air temperatures, risk of increase in the flow and level of rivers and small rivers, etc.) are usual for Moldova’s territory; yet, they may temporarily become dangerous for certain social and economic activities.
