Moldova speaks out for continuing cooperation with NATO, in line with Individual Partnership Action Plan's provisions

Chisinau, 15 July /MOLDPRES/ - Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu and Deputy Secretary General of NATO Rose Gottemoeller tackled subjects on Moldova’s cooperation with the North Atlantic Alliance, implementation of the Defence and Related Security Capacity Building Initiative, promotion of the process of reform of the security and defence sector, fighting new threats to security, etc. at a meeting today.
According to the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s public diplomacy, strategic communication and media interaction service, the Moldovan diplomacy head stressed Moldova’s interest in continuing the political dialogue and practical cooperation with the North Atlantic Alliance, in line with the provisions of the Moldova-NATO Individual Partnership Action Plan (IPAP) and in the sectors of common interest. “The IPAP individual action plan is the instrument which allows us maintaining the political dialogue and carry out the practical cooperation of Moldova with the North Atlantic Alliance,” Nicu Popescu stressed.
The officials considered joint actions due to be undertaken, in the context of more cooperation sectors, among which the implementation of the Defence and Related Security Capacity Building Initiative, promotion of the process of reform of the security and defence sector, combating new threats to security, cooperation in the strategic communication field and counteraction of hybrid threats.
Deputy Secretary General of NATO Rose Gottemoeller confirmed the organization’s support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Moldova, as well as the respect for country’s neutrality. She stressed willingness to further provide expertise and assistance necessary for the Moldovan authorities in the reform processes, especially for the modernization of the security and defence sector.
