Chisinau, 16 July /MOLDPRES/ - The family physicians’ centre from the Hagimus village, eastern Causeni district, inaugurated with the European Union’s support in late 2018, is available for the residents of the Bender city. At the same time, patients from the villages of Gasca, Merenesti and Chitcani, administered by Tiraspol, will soon be able to go there as well.
„Closer to people and for people – this is the European Union focuses its efforts on, when it comes to support for communities. This modern office of family physicians will receive patients from outskirts, no matter whether it is about the right bank or the left bank of Dniester. We are happy that our support will improve the living standards of the people in an inclusive way,” a project manager of the European Union Delegation in Moldova, Fabien Schaeffer, has said.
The new headquarters of the family physicians’ centre was constructed from the foundation. The office is endowed with modern medical equipment. The building has autonomous heating, aqueduct and sewerage system. The old headquarters was placed in a damage building.
„We were not able to reconstruct it, given that the foundation was hit by underground waters. Most medical devises were failed or obsolete. Our village benefited from more projects financed by EU; we want very much to become a modern, developed village, with chances and a bright future, so that it becomes attractive, first of all, for the children who left abroad,” the mayor of the Hagimus village, Anatol Iepure, said.
„Certainly, the difference between the new headquarters and the old building is distinguishable. In the new centre, we have everything necessary for the first medical aid: chamber for newly-born children, salon for procedures, EKG apparatus, laboratory, etc. A family physician here has everything needed for incipient investigations. Thanks to the European Union, local authorities, Causeni district council, which have proved cooperation, presently we have in Hagimus a modern, well-endowed, heated health centre, with comfortable sanitary groups, where both patients and employees feel well,” a family physician from the Hagimus village, Eugeniu Opinca, said.
The European Union allocated 123,550 euros for the construction of the office of family physicians from Hagimus, within the Confidence Building Measures Programme, implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The community contributed with more than 23,000 euros.
„The Hagimus-based project was an ambitious, far-reaching one, an example of dedicated and well-coordinated work. The district council backed this programme from the very beginning and at present, we are glad that people from both banks of Dniester can benefit from qualitative medical services. This is by far not the first project carried out in Causeni with the support of EU and UNDP and we are fully confident that, in the long run, we will implement other projects for the good of the communities,” the deputy head of the Causeni district, Sergiu Gogu, said.
Presently, 3,500 people are registered at the office of family physicians from Hagimus, of whom 600 are from the left bank of Dniester.
The office of family physicians from Hagimus is one of those over 80 infrastructure objects restored within the EU’s Confidence Building Measures Programme. The programme contributes to the strengthening of trust between the residents from both banks of Dniester, through their involvement in joint development programmes.
