Chisinau, 17 July /MOLDPRES/ - Viorel Melnic gave up his mandate of lawmaker in Moldova’s parliament today, the parliament’s communication department has reported.
In a statement, Viorel Melnic said that “in the parliament elected through mixed electoral system, an independent MP has limited possibilities and cannot meet the exigencies of the voters.”
„In the present conditions, as well as by the experience gained in the current parliament, I find out for sure that the role of the independent lawmakers is reduced to zero. The promotion of draft normative acts in parliament with cosmic speed, as well as the ignoring of the procedural and legal provisions in the process of their consideration and approval expresses an imminent doubt of the quality of the work of the entire legislative body,” Melnic said.
Viorel Melnic was elected independent MP in the uninominal electoral district No 48 from the Transnistrian region.
