Moldovan court of appeal holds new hearing in case of convicted person

Chisinau, 17 July /MOLDPRES/ – A new hearing in the case of Gheorghe Petic has been held at the Court of Appeal (CA) on Wednesday, 17 July.
At the hearing, the magistrates have examined the request of the lawyer of Gheorghe Petic for revocation of arrest measure. However, the claim has been rejected as inadmissible.
After pronouncing the decision, Gheorghe Petic has left the meeting room and joined the crowd of persons which gathered in front of CA in support of him. Subsequently, he was taken back to prison again.
On Thursday, 18 July, another court hearing will be held at CA on it.
In March 2009, Gheorghe Petic was sentenced by Ist instance to 3.5 years imprisonment in a case in which he was accused of rape. Petic declares himself innocent. Shortly afterwards, it was opened a new case on the name of Petic in which he has been investigated for hooliganism.
