Beneficiaries from international protection to receive financial aid worth 1,046.25 lei in Moldova in 2019

Chisinau, 18 July /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet of ministers, at a today’s meeting, approved the quantum of the financial assistance provided to the beneficiaries from international protection in 2019 amounting to 1,046.25 lei.

The concerned aid is provided under the law on asylum in Moldova, which sees the rights of the beneficiaries from international protection to financial assistance, within the limits of the state’s possibilities if, for objective reasons, they lack means of existence. According to the concerned law, the cabinet annually establishes the quantum of the financial assistance provided to the beneficiaries from international protection.

Thus, Moldova aspires to follow the good practices implemented in EU, where, depending on the personal situation and specific advantages of each state’s social security system, the beneficiaries of international protection receive certain forms of financial assistance (daily or monthly allocations, social assistance allowances, etc.). The size of the financial aid provided to the beneficiaries of international protection accounts for 15 per cent of the average monthly salary on the economy. The average monthly salary on the economy, forecast for 2019, is worth 6,975 lei. The application for assistance is considered by the competent authority for foreigners.

In the last eight years, 144 beneficiaries of international protection have received financial aid; in 2017 and 2018, only two persons received financial assistance each.
