Moldovan magistrates turn down lawyers' demand on cancellation of Gheorghe Petic's arrest measure

Chisinau, 18 July /MOLDPRES/ - The magistrates of the Court of Appeal today turned down a demand by the lawyers of Gheorghe Petic on the cancellation of the arrest measure.
Subsequently, the lawyers asked for the release of Gheorghe Petic under the guarantee of two MPs. The demand was rejected this time too.
During the court session, more people assembled outside the Court of Appeal to back Gheorghe Petic.
In last March, Gheorghe Petic was sentenced by the first instance court to three years and six months of imprisonment in a file in which Petic is accused of rape. Shortly afterwards, a new file was opened against Petic, in which he is prosecuted for hooliganism.
