Biggest decrease in industrial output of last years recorded in Moldova in May 2019

Chisinau, 19 July /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova recorded the sharpest decrease in the last years, with a 5.4-per cent drop in May 2019, amid the diminution of production in all the three important industry sectors, according to data by the National Statistics Bureau (BNS), made public today.
BNS said that the production in the extractive industry (gross series) in last May had registered a 17-per cent decrease against the same period of the year before; in the processing industry, the drop was 5.3 per cent and the production and supply of electric and thermal energy, gas, warm water and conditioned air decreased by 2.6 per cent.
BNS data also shows that, in the first five months of 2019, the industrial output (gross series) had grown by 2.1 per cent against the same period of the previous year, as a result of the increase in the extractive industry (+27 per cent) and in the processing industry (+2.1 per cent). A 0.7-per cent decrease was recorded in the production and supply of the electric and thermal energy, gas, warm water and conditioned air.
The Economics and Infrastructure Ministry forecasts a five-per cent increase in the industrial production up to 59.1 billion lei for 2019.
