Meteorologists forecast higher air temperatures, rains in Moldova

Chisinau, 20 July /MOLDPRES/ - High air temperatures and thunderstorm rains are forecast for the days to come, according to the State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS).
Meteorologists said that maximal air temperatures of +33 Celsius degrees were expected during the day and +20 degrees at night till the beginning of the next week. Starting from 23 July, the air temperature is to slightly decrease all over Moldova.
On the concerned period, thunderstorm rains are possible, especially in the northern and central regions.
At the same time, the SHS’ hydrological centre forecast a drop of the Prut river’s level on the segments Costesti-Ungheni and Ungheni-Leova on 22-31 July.
During this interval, on the segment Costesti-Ungheni, the Prut river level will decrease by 0.6-0.9 metres and on the segment Ungheni-Leova – by 0.8-1.3 metres.
Hydrologists said that these decreases posed no danger for the river’s biodiversity.
