Moldovan citizens to be able to address collective petitions to parliament

Chisinau, 22 July /MOLDPRES/ – The petitions that will collect the signatures of 10,000 citizens will be debated in plenary meeting of Parliament, and later, if necessary, the commissions will be able to submit draft laws on the subject of petition. It has been presented a legislative initiative in this regard on Monday, 22 July, by MPs Radu Marian and Dan Perciun.
The petitions would be filed on a dedicated site. Each submitted initiative will have 60 days to accumulate the required number of ten thousand signatures to be further analised in the specialised commissions, standing bureau of Parliament and plenary sessions.
MP Radu Marian has said that the signatures may be submitted both on paper and in electronic format. The person who wants to support a specific petition will have to indicate his/her name, surname, personal code and address. The personal data will be encrypted.
"If the initiative is found to be within public interest, then the specialised commission will be able to initiate a draft law on this," said Radu Marian.
The petitions aimed at actions beyond the responsibility of Parliament, defamatory, libelous, which violate fundamental human rights and incite hatred, will not be accepted.
The collective petitions process would be operational as of 01 November 2019.
