Chisinau, 22 July /MOLDPRES/ - Interior Minister Andrei Nastase today demanded the starting of an inquiry at the Prosecutor General’s Office on the concealing of an official letter received from the Swiss authorities.
„The Interior Ministry (MAI) took possession of an official letter on behalf of the Swiss authorities on the intention of spontaneous conveying of information to Moldova’s competent authorities, issued by the Prosecutor’s Office No 3 of the Canton of Zürich concerning Vladimir Plahotniuc. According to the Federal Department of Justice and Police of Switzerland, the Moldovan authorities were to confirm, in the conditions requested by the Swiss authorities, the reception of information showing suspicions of money laundering, held by the Prosecutor’s Office No 3 of the Canton of Zürich, the deadline for this being 21 June 2019,” Nastase said.
According to Nastase, the Swiss authorities’ letter was conveyed through the former Prosecutor General Eduard Harunjen to the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office and namely to prosecutor Adrian Betisor. “Yet, the document was concealed by them, in order to obstruct any criminal and international files against Plahotniuc,” the interior minister added.
In the context, Nastase demanded the initiating of an internal and criminal investigation at the Prosecutor General’s Office, “the subject of which this concealing is to be.”
At the same time, Nastase asked to open a criminal file on the usurpation of the state power, which, according to him, has been procrastinated so far. The interior minister spoke out for the prosecutors to demand the lift of the immunity of Vladimir Plahotniuc and Ilan Shor and putting them on the wanted list.
