Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe's corapporteurs meet representatives of all parliamentary factions of Moldova

Chisinau, 23 July /MOLDPRES/ – The major issues, which have been discussed during the meetings of MPs with Corapporteurs of the Monitoring Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), Egidijus Vareikis and Maryvonne Blondin Political, were developments and functioning of democratic institutions in Moldova, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
The PACE officials have had a discussion with MPs in the parliamentary commissions responsible for justice, fight against corruption and human rights –commission of legal issues, appointments and immunities, commission for the control of public finances, commission of human rights and interethnic relations.
The corapporteurs have also discussed with representatives of all parliamentary factions and parliamentary delegation to PACE.
The PACE corapporteurs have documented the situation after constitutional and political crisis of June 2019, the undertaken measures in the fields of justice and fight against corruption, legislation and actions envisaged for depoliticisation of judiciary and state institutions, developments regarding electoral framework.
The corapporteurs of the Monitoring Committee of PACE, Egidijus Vareikis and Maryvonne Blondin, are paying a visit to Moldova on 21 – 24 July 2019. Egidijus Vareikis is a Lithuanian MP, the Group of the European People's Party, and Maryvonne Blondin is a French MP, the Group of Socialists, Democrats and Greens.
