National bank's ex – governor heard in parliament of Moldova

Chisinau, 23 July /MOLDPRES/ – Former Governor of the National Bank of Moldova (BNM), Dorin Dragutanu, has been heard by the Commission of investigation to elucidate all circumstances of devaluation of Moldovan banking system and investigation of bank fraud. It has been announced by the head of commission, Alexandru Slusari, on Tuesday, 23 July.
According to Slusari, at the hearings, Dragutanu would have tried to pass over the responsibility, saying that "the BNM had done everything it could but did not have the necessary tools to manage the crisis of 2013 – 2014."
Also today, the commission of inquiry was to hear former deputy governor of BNM, Emma Tabarta. But she has not come to hearings, invoking health condition reasons.
According to Slusari, the commission is due to hear on Thursday, 25 July, ex – speaker, Andrian Candu, ex – Finance Minister, Anatol Arapu, and ex – PM Iurie Leanca.
"Probably, here we shall end hearings, but we are going to analise the opportunity to hear persons which are currently in detention places," said Slusari.
The investigative commission was created in early June 2019. Among the persons which have been heard so far include ex – Finance Minister, Veaceslav Negruta, ex – head of the parliamentary commission of economy, budget and finance, Veaceslav Ionita, head of ex – parliamentary commission investigating the theft of billion, Oleg Reidman, and ex – deputy head of Banca de Economii (BEM), Viorel Birca.
