Meeting of interministerial working group Moldova – Romania held in Bucharest

Chisinau, 23 July /MOLDPRES/ – It has been held the meeting of the interministerial working group Moldova – Romania in Bucharest, on Tuesday, 23 July, with participation of the ministers appointed by the two sides.
The participants at the event have carried out a thorough analysis of ongoing projects that require priority attention. Also, there were analised the modalities for launching new projects, starting from priorities of Moldova.
In the context, it was agreed that, in upcoming future, the support of Romania should focus on concrete projects in the field of environmental and water protection in education, culture, healthcare, home affairs and cross – border cooperation, public finances, and telecommunications.
Similarly, it has been emphasised the commitment of Romania to continue and deepen the cooperation programmes on institutional strengthening, including through participation with experts in key areas. It has also been reconfirmed the strategic importance of energy interconnection projects.
According to a press release of the Romanian Government, the meeting highlighted the importance of putting into practice the Agreement between the Government of Romania and the Government of Moldova on implementation of the technical and financial assistance programme on the basis of a grant of €100 mln offered by Romania to Moldova.
"The results of the meeting will be in the immediate future subject to coordinated actions of both sides in the perspective of a future joint meeting of the Governments of Romania and Moldova", said the press release.
The interministerial working group Moldova – Romania was established on the basis of an agreement set between Romanian PM, Viorica Dancila, and Moldovan PM, Maia Sandu, in Bucharest, on 02 July 2019.
The Government of Moldova was represented by Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Nicolae Popescu, Minister of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment, Georgeta Mincu, Minister of Education, Culture and Research, Liliana Nicolaescu – Onofrei, and Minister of Healthcare, Labour and Social Protection, Ala Nemerenco.
