Moldovan PM, head of group Renew Europe in EP discuss relaunching of cooperation with European Parliament

Chisinau, 24 July /MOLDPRES/ – There have been discussed prospects for development of bilateral relations as well as restoration of confidence of Moldovan citizens and development partners in state institutions at the meeting of the Moldovan delegation headed by Prime Minister, Maia Sandu, with the Romanian delegation from the group Renew Europe in the European Parliament, headed by Dacian Ciolos. The meeting took place on Wednesday, 24 July, during the official visit of PM and Foreign Minister, Nicu Popescu, to Brussels, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

The officials have outlined the importance of intensifying the partnership relations with EU, implementation of the Association Agreement being an absolute priority of the Government of Moldova.

PM Maia Sandu thanked the Romanian partners for unconditional support given to the citizens of Moldova all these years and stated that it was established the democracy in Moldova. "We feel great openness from EU and thank you for your constant help. In our country, we breathe otherwise and not just us, those which were in opposition, but also the representatives of civil society, press, all citizens," said PM.

During the meeting, the PM expressed her appreciation for the given support by Dacian Ciolos to Moldova as a Commissioner, but also as a Romanian political leader, underlining that the Government of Moldova has a firm commitment to implementing a European agenda. "The key priorities of Government are to clean up state institutions, combat corruption, promote integrity in state institutions, boost economic growth, reform the General Prosecutor's Office, reform justice, ensure mas media independence and respect for human rights," said Maia Sandu.

The members of the Romanian Renew Europe delegation, Dacian Ciolos, Cristian Ghinea, Dragos Tudorache, Ramona Strugariu, Nicolae Stefanuta and Vlad – Marius Botos, urged the new Government of Chisinau to keep its courage, regardless of obstacles and pressures, continue the process of cleaning up the state institutions and guarantee organisation of free and fair autumn elections. The Moldovan delegation was provided with all necessary support for implementation of modernisation and democratisation reforms of Moldova.
