Moldovan PM, Commissioner Johannes Hahn sign three financing agreements in Brussels

Chisinau, 24 July /MOLDPRES/ – Before the meeting on Wednesday, 24 July, of Prime Minister, Maia Sandu, with European Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn, it has been held an exchange of views between PM Maia Sandu, President of the European Commission Jean–Claude Juncker and Commissioner Johannes Hahn, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.
In the talks on priorities of the Chisinau Government and the process of implementing the Association Agreement by Moldova, PM Maia Sandu outlined the will of the existing leadership to progress irreversibly on the European agenda. After signing 03 financing agreements, PM Sandu and Commissioner Hahn held a press conference presenting the benefits of this funding and stressed the need to continue the reforms initiated by current Government. "Today, we have signed three EU funding agreements in areas of great importance for Moldova. The first of these ones concerns strengthening the rule of law and anticorruption mechanisms. The second one provides for economic support of certain regions of Moldova, in particular the improvement of local business environment and access to public services. The third agreement has as its general objective the support for Moldova of participation in various EU programmes, especially on the social dimension and with a focus on involvement of women," said Maia Sandu.
Unlocking EU financial assistance is a visible result in cooperation with EU and an important signal for Moldovan citizens. The signing of 03 financing agreements, with a total value of €40.25 mln, is meant to contribute significantly to development of Moldova and its accession to EU.
EU Commissioner, Johannes Hahn, encouraged the Chisinau authorities to promote reforms and stressed that EU would continue to support actions aimed at strengthening democracy and the rule of law.
