Department of carabineri troops to be reorganised in Moldova

Chisinau, 25 July /MOLDPRES/ – The Government decision on organisation and functioning of the General Inspectorate of Carabineri (IGC) comes into force on Friday, 26 July, with its publication in the Official Journal (MO).
According to document, the Department of Carabineri Troops (DTC) will be reorganised, by transformation, into the General Inspectorate of Carabineri (IGC) subordinated to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MAI). Also, the staff of IGC was set at 1,187 units.
The Inspectorate will be headed by the general commander (CG), appointed by the Government decision (HG), for a term of 05 years, at the proposal of the Minister of Internal Affairs.
The Regulation on the functioning of the new structure establishes that IGC has the mission to defend the fundamental rights and freedoms of the person by performing the duties of maintaining, securing and restoring the public order, preventing and discovering the offences and contraventions, protecting the objectives of great importance, preventing and combatting terrorism, ensuring emergency, siege, or war regime.
Similarly, the document also states that in time of peace, the IGC exercises police powers, and during siege or war – specific tasks for the Armed Forces (FA).
