Tobacco products that do not burn to be subject to similar regulations as cigarettes in Moldova

Chisinau, 26 July /MOLDPRES/ – The tobacco products that do not burn will be subject to the same regulations as cigarettes. This is stipulated in a draft law, adopted on Friday, 26 July, in the second reading of the Parliament.

The draft provides amendments to the Act of tobacco control (LPCT), Contravention code (CC) and Fiscal code (CF).

According to document, on each packet of non – burning tobacco goods it will be printed warning: This tobacco product damages health and creates addiction.

The bill also sets out a similar level of excise for cigarettes for tobacco heating devices and regular cigarettes. The amendment to CFhas been proposed because the legislation does not currently provide for the excise duty on cigarettes for use with tobacco heating appliances.

The new law enters into force on 01 January 2020. The non – burning tobacco products placed on the market until the entry into force of this law will be marketed until stocks run out.
