Grants worth €14.5 mln from EU reach accounts of ministry of finance of Moldova

Chisinau, 26 July /MOLDPRES/ – More grants worth €14.5 mln (equivalent to MDL 284.7 mln) offered to Moldova by the European Commission (CE) have reached the accounts of the Ministry of Finance (MF).

The MF has informed that the respective money is transferred as budget support under the following programmes: Support Programme for Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area Deployment in Moldova, Support Programme for Implementation of Vocational/Technical Education Reform in Moldova and Action Plan on the liberalisation of visa regime.

The payments have been resumed following a suspension of almost 02 years as a result of deteriorating situation in Moldova on the rule of law. The newly – invested Government has taken a series of vital decisions which allowed EU to appreciate that there are met the terms for resuming the budget support to Moldova.

The reimbursable financial assistance will be used to finance the spending programmes provided for in the Act of State Budget (BS) for 2019.
