Moratorium on privatisation of public goods enters into force in Moldova

Chisinau, 27 July /MOLDPRES/ – The decision of Parliament on establishment of a moratorium on privatisation of public goods has come into force on Saturday, 27 July, with its publication in the Official Journal (MO).
The document provides for establishment of a moratorium on the ongoing processes aimed at privatisation, concession, concluding public – private partnership contracts on state property.
The moratorium will remain in force until the Parliament presents and approves the report of the Commission of inquiry (CA) to analise how to organise and conduct the privatisation and concession of public property since 2013 till present.
Previously, the Parliament had set up an inquiry commission to analise how to organise and conduct privatisation of public property since 2013 till present. Meanwhile, PM Maia Sandu has asked the Public Property Agency (APP) to identify legal modes to suspend temporarily the privatisation processes which have begun.
