Moldova celebrates 25th anniversary of adoption of Constitution

Chisinau, 29 July /MOLDPRES/ – The Republic of Moldova celebrates the 25th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution, on Monday, 29 July.
The Constitution of Moldova was adopted on 29 July 1994 and entered into force on 27 August 1994. The supreme law provides that Moldova is a sovereign, independent, unitary and indivisible state. The Constitution of Moldova consists of eight titles, each being divided into chapters and sections. The preamble of the Constitution mentions the secular aspirations of the people to live in a sovereign country, the aspirations to satisfy the interests of citizens.
Also, it is mentioned the aspiration for establishing the rule of law, considering civic peace, democracy, human dignity, rights and freedoms, free development of human personality, justice and political pluralism as supreme values, devotion of MPs in Parliament, by plenipotentiary representatives of the people of Moldova, towards the general human values, desire to live in peace and good understanding with all the peoples of the world according to the principles and norms recognised unanimously by the international law, being aware of the responsibility and obligations towards the previous, current and future generations.
The Constitution is the fundamental law of the state that defines the attributes of state, its principles of operation and its main objectives. There are written the most important principles of economic, political, social and juridical life in it, as well as the values on which it is based Moldova: separation of powers in state, fundamental rights and freedoms of citizens, independence of justice, political pluralism, etc. The Constitution is the legal basis of entire legislation, it is based on all the institutional and normative ensembles.
The fundamental law is a body of principles and norms that opened the way for affirmation of the fundamental values of the rule of law and market economy, a guarantee of fundamental human rights and functioning of basic institutions of state, providing the necessary framework for establishment of a system of Government based on the inalienable rights of humanity: life, freedom and the pursuit of happiness.
The Constitution of Moldova is the document with the highest regulatory authority in public, political and social life of the country. The symbol of the people's struggle for freedom, democracy and human rights, the Constitution reminds each citizen of the holy duty of faithfully serving the motherland, defending the unity, sovereignty and independence of Moldova at all costs.
The significance of the Constitution of Moldova consists in its important functions: it carries out a synthesis of processes and events in the history of the people in the struggle for the democratisation of society, expresses the objectives and wishes of the people, determines the character and limits of state power, and it is a concept on relations in society.
