Eighty one new businesses managed by women to benefit from grants in Moldova

Chisinau, 30 July /MOLDPRES/ - A number of 81 new businesses, managed by women of Moldova, have received financing within the Women in Business programme. The contracts with beneficiaries were signed in Chisinau today.
The beneficiaries of the third appeal of the programme got grants worth up to 165,000 lei. The overall sum of the grants provided amounts to 11 million lei. The investments forecast in Moldova’s economy reach about 15 million lei. Those 81 enterprises financed are to provide 300 new jobs.
The general acting director of the Organization for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Sector Development (ODIMM), Petru Gurgurov, has said that the programme’s goal was to integrate women into the country’s economic circulation.
Head of the European Union Delegation in Moldova Peter Michalko said that EU had additionally contributed four million euros to back the programme’s beneficiaries.
Attending the event, Economics and Infrastructure Minister Vadim Brinzan gave assurances that the institution he leads would provide every needed support to the beneficiaries of the programme.
In the first two appeals of the Women in Business programme, 201 women from all over Moldova benefited from financing to do business and created 762 new jobs. The sum of the grants approved was of 28.5 million lei, which favoured investments worth 47.7 million lei in the country’s economy. Most companies work in the processing industry sector – 60 per cent, providing services – 31 per cent, agriculture and animal husbandry – 9 per cent.
The Women in Business pilot programme was launched in 2016, is managed by ODIMM and has three-year duration of implementation. The programme is financed from the state budget and supplemented from European Union’s funds. Newly registered enterprises, managed by women, can apply to the contest.
