Moldovan deputy premier for reintegration holds news conference on prospects of negotiation process on Transnistrian settlement

Chisinau, 30 July /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Vasilii Sova today held a news conference. At the event, the official informed about the developments in the process of negotiations on the Transnistrian settlement, as well as Chisinau’s vision on the agenda on this subject, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.
The deputy prime minister noted that the Transnistrian problem represents a priority in the Moldovan government’s activity programme and the fact that the activity of all sectoral working groups would be re-launched in the near future.
Vasilii Sova also emphasized the need to strengthen the dialogue with the foreign partners and start necessary preparations for convening, in autumn this year, the next official round of five-plus-two negotiations and a new Bavarian conference titled, Confidence building measures in the Transnistrian conflict settlement process, with the traditional formalization of the text of a declaration in the five-plus-two negotiations on the Transnistrian settlement process at the OSCE Ministerial Council, due in next December.
The deputy prime minister specified that the mechanism of consultations between the government, parliament and presidency was to be resumed, in order to elaborate and accept joint priorities, with the defining of basic parameters as regards the settlement prospects.
In the context, Sova highlighted the importance to include representatives of the civil society in the process, which are able to bring value added in this respect.
The deputy prime minister set forth four sectors as priority for the next period:
1. Observance of human rights, especially the right to free movement, as well as elements regarding the democratization of processes in the Transnistrian region.
2. Problems in the economic and trade fields, including aspects concerning the property.
3. Setting up of a new working group meant to contribute to the consolidation of trust measures in the military sector.
4. Establishing needed premises for discussing all the three baskets in the 5+2 format of talks in 2020, in particular, decision-makers should focus efforts on the comprehensive and sustainable settlement of the Transnistrian file.
The deputy prime minister said that special attention would be paid to the carrying out of concrete infrastructure projects and which will contribute to the real reintegration of the two banks. In this respect, decision-makers will ask for the support of international donors, in order to implement the projects on reconstruction of the road Chisinau-Bender-Tiraspol-Kuchurgan and launch of a trolley bus line between the Varnita village, eastern Anenii Noi district and Bender city, thus laying the foundations of the future background of post-conflict rehabilitation.
Vasilii Sova also reiterated that, on the near period, he would boost the interaction to achieve palpable results in the telecommunications file and identifying a viable mechanism of provisional customs clearance of the oil products imported through the Colbasna-Slobodka crossing point.
The deputy prime minister gave assurances that news briefings would be periodically held, to inform the wide public and journalists about the situation, developments and foremost actions on the Transnistrian dimension.
