Moldovan president rules to sign decree on appointment of acting prosecutor general

Chisinau, 30 July /MOLDPRES/ - President Igor Dodon today informed that he had ruled to sign the decree on the appointment of Dumitru Robu for the office of acting Prosecutor General of Moldova.
The president announced the decision following a meeting with Dumitru Robu. Dodon noted that he had discussed with Robu the difficult situation in the sector and the task of the acting Prosecutor General to ensure the work of the institution in line with the democratic standards and citizens’ expectations.
The head of state also said that he hopes that Dumitru Robu “will be able to ensure the calling to account of all those who stole from public money, as well as will contribute to the conformable implementation of the reform of the Prosecutor General’s Office.”
„I stressed that the society is expecting truthful inquiries as to the investigation of the bank fraud, state power usurpation in last June and the criminal schemes created in diverse sectors of the country’s economy,” Igor Dodon wrote on his official page of a social network.
The parliament today ruled to put forward the candidacy of Dumitru Robu for the office of acting prosecutor general. Dumitru Robu is the deputy chief prosecutor of the Chisinau municipality. He will take over the position after the former prosecutor general, Eduard Harunjen, tendered resignation on 11 July 2019.
