Meteorologists extend yellow code of heat, hydrological drought in Moldova

Chisinau, 31 July /MOLDPRES/ – The State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS) has extended, the Yellow Code of heat until Thursday, 01 August and hydrological drought until 05 August.

According to the SHS’s information and media communication service, the month of August is forecasted to be full of heat, and throughout Moldova the maximum air temperature will get up to 33ºC – 34ºC.

Also, according to SHS, the Yellow Code of drought is in force until 05 August. The hydrologists report drought in the rivers and lakes of Moldova due to the lack of precipitation and high temperatures. "We ask the economic agents and population to consume rationally water resources", it is stated in a statement of institution.

In the context of the heat and drought established in Moldova, the General Inspectorate of Emergency Situations (IGSU) has warned the population about respecting the fire regulations. The firefighters have urged citizens not to light dry vegetation and household debris, to avoid ignition of wrinkles and stems, and in case of fire, whether insignificant, call 112. Also, if it is be noticed out of ordinary situations in adjacent forests or territories, the specialists of Agency Moldsilva ask to be contacted on hotline 022 – 211 – 311.

At their turn, the doctors caution chronic patients, especially the ones with cardiovascular and respiratory diseases, old people, pregnant women and children to avoid sun exposure during hot hours. "During the summer, on hot weather, there are indicated light clothes, preferably of natural cloth and light colours, cover the head necessarily, sufficient hydration and an adequate diet", say several medical sources.
