Deadline for payment of real estate, land taxes expires on 15 August in Moldova

Chisinau, 31 July /MOLDPRES/ - The State Fiscal Service (SFS) warns that the deadline for the payment of the real estate and land taxes expires on 15 August. The tax payers who pay this tax till 30 June benefit from a 15-per cent cut. As much as 80 per cent of the owners of real estate assets benefited from this facility this year, against 70 per cent in 2018.
The real estate tax is paid by tax payer to local budgets, where the objects of taxation are placed, in equal parts, no later than 15 August (the second term), this year. The tax payers who pay the entire sum of the tax for the current year till 30 June of the concerned year benefit from the right to a 15-per cent cut of the sum of the tax due to be paid, the Fiscal Service said.
About 400 million lei has been accumulated in the national public budget from this type of tax from those over 80 per cent of the owners of real estate assets, who exercised their obligation to pay the real estate and land taxes till 30 June 2019.
In the context, the State Fiscal Service reiterates that, according to Moldova’s Fiscal Code, the real estate tax is paid in the budget of the administrative and territorial unit, according to the place of the real estate and in two equal parts, till 15 August and, respectively, until 15 October.
Under the provisions of the Article 228, paragraph (2) of the Fiscal Code, if the real estate tax is not paid in the terms provided for by the legislation, late-payment penalties are imposed for each day of delay, for the period which starts beginning with the maturity of the tax and which ends on the day of the effective payment inclusively. Thus, the late-payment penalty is set at 0.0329 per cent per one day for 2019.
